If you’re preparing for your first Muay Thai class, here’s exactly what your first hour at our gym looks like.

Before You Arrive

Try to arrive about 10 to 15 minutes early before class begins.

This gives you enough time to:

  • Meet Coach Evan
  • Check in at reception
  • Get fitted with any borrowed equipment
  • Wrap your hands if needed
  • Introduce yourself to the coaches

Minute 0–10: Welcome to Hitters Fight Club

From the moment you walk through our doors, our coaching staff will make sure you feel comfortable.

You’ll meet Head Coach Evan, who has helped countless beginners learn Muay Thai safely and confidently.

Rather than throwing you into the middle of class, we’ll explain:

  • today’s lesson
  • class structure
  • safety guidelines
  • equipment
  • where to stand

Our goal is simple:

Help you enjoy your first class.


Minute 10–20: Dynamic Warm-Up

Every class starts with a warm-up designed specifically for Muay Thai.

Expect exercises like:

  • skipping
  • mobility drills
  • light jogging
  • bodyweight movements
  • shadowboxing

The warm-up prepares your body while introducing basic fighting movement.

Don’t worry if you can’t keep up immediately.

Everyone starts somewhere.


Minute 20–35: Learning Technique

This is where the fun begins.

Depending on the class, you may learn:

  • proper fighting stance
  • jab
  • cross
  • roundhouse kick
  • teep
  • knees
  • defensive movement

Technique always comes before speed or power.

We’d rather see perfect fundamentals than hard punches.

Every beginner receives hands-on instruction and personalized coaching to develop proper Muay Thai technique from day one.

Minute 35–50: Partner Drills

Students pair up to practice techniques under the supervision of the coaches.

If you’re brand new, you’ll often be partnered with:

  • an experienced student
  • another beginner
  • or occasionally a coach

The focus isn’t competition.

It’s repetition and learning.

Our coaches constantly move around the room providing individual feedback.


Minute 50–55: Questions and Coaching

Near the end of class, coaches often review key concepts and answer questions.

This is one of the biggest advantages of training at Hitters Fight Club.

You’re never left wondering if you’re doing something incorrectly.

Coach Evan believes small technical improvements every class lead to huge progress over time.


Minute 55–60: Cool Down

The final minutes include:

  • stretching
  • recovery
  • announcements
  • upcoming events
  • answering beginner questions

You’ll leave class tired—but energized.

Do I Need to Spar?

No.

This is probably the question we hear most often.

Beginners are never expected to spar on their first day.

Your first classes focus on:

  • movement
  • balance

Sparring only comes later for students who are interested and ready.
